Is there any reason to keep.....

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is it necessary to keep for any reason:

OCHEM,PHYSICS, old BIO books, MCAT study things or can I throw it all away?

Unload them, especially if you can get money. Some people save biochem and other med school course level books (but they are only going to be useful as secondary resources generally). But the basic prereq books are not useful in med school.

Thanks so very much. I think I will save biochem and maybe neuroscience but all others psi-a-nara!

Biochem, cell bio . . . that's about all that's worth saving. Ditch the rest.

I suggest some sort of ceremonial torching with a couple other classmates/fellow pre-meds. Make a bonfire party out of it.

It's funny cause, I'm typically the furthest thing from a pack-rat. But, when it comes to science texts, I have a sore spot...

Good God, this afternoon, I saw my huge pile of "pre-med" books and resources and was wondering the same thing.

just don't do it in a public place... wouldn't want to lose your chance at a great career cause of a little fun... i'm sure you've all heard this story before 😳. i personally shoved my books in a weak shopping bag that broke mid-air as i hoisted it into a large dumpster. the books came spilling out one by one and scattered themselves in various positions. funniest vision, and greatest feeling ever. 😀

I find myself referring to my gen chem book every once in a while. The others are just gathering dust, but they kinda look impressive. Space may win out over pride and nostalgia very shortly.

Sell them, give them away, burn them, or rip out the pages for TP. They won't be any help in med school. Nor will you have the time to look through them.

I've checked back in my cell bio, MCAT review book and one anatomy text I liked.

Really, if you have the shelf space and don't mind moving them, I'd keep a few - they're good in the case of a "Wait, WHAT?" moment when your current texts are being more obscure than usual.

There is a good chance you won't even use the books you buy for your medschool classes.

sell them, or donate them to libraries 🙂

I didn't know college could bother you kids that much.

I doubt they'd lose their shot at being a doctor because of an ill-fated bonfire party 😀

...and it's much more fun than donating the books.

In this day and age of internet if they really needed a clarification I'm sure most things can be found online or in the library via looking at extra texts from there.

Yeah, but I was already familiar with these texts and at one point understood how they presented to material, so it was a bit easier when I needed clarification.
