If you didn't match for the civilian match, is there a program for people who can join the military where they can do their residency training as well?
The .mil isn’t some second rate program for people who can’t match in the civilian world.
These threads always piss me off. They may not be MGH and Stanford, but they’re fine. Or at least they used to be. Though if you want to “Be all you can be” and you’re the man, you’re better off up in the stratosphere of the ivied walls.

Imagine how much worse it'll be if the military gets out of the GME business. That said, we should have some empathy for these folks. They are in a really difficult situation. Go read the SOAP thread.
I'm sorry for offending anyone with this thread. It was not my intention. That's not how I view the military at all. Just inquiring about job opportunities or ways the military could possibly make use of me.
Sorry to bother you all
This is not solely a "you" issue. As mentioned above, this question comes up every year, and so you're just a straw on the camel's back. But do keep in mind that you're coming into a forum filled with military physicians, most of which did military residencies, and implying (whether intentionally or not) that the training they got is some kind of consolation prize if you don't match. I imagine that you're simply in a tough position and looking for a pathway out. But sometimes this question comes off a little demeaning. Again, not necessarily in your case. It gets asked every year.I'm sorry for offending anyone with this thread. It was not my intention. That's not how I view the military at all. Your best bet is to put in a research year and try again. Good luck.
