An awesome SDNer just pmed me a sweet little Happy Thanksgiving note and I'm passing it on to you ! Hope you have an amazing holiday and enjoy time with your family and your loved ones, even if these loved ones may be your pharmacokinetics books !

I'm laying in bed and pigging out on food before the official celebration has even begun. I can feel cellulite forming in every troubled area as I type  Nevertheless, I'm really thankful to have 2 entire day off 👍

You can read my thoughts on Thanksgiving in "The Off-Topic Thread."

Bah! Humturkey! I'm not eating anything until 12:01 AM Friday. And it won't be turkey.

I started reading them, but then got scared :scared: and ran away like a little pony.

Which reminds me of a story: two days ago in class we got asked what medication reconciliation sheets are.

Your signature was engraved in my mind and since no one else seemed to know - I raised my hand and said it's on the list of things that make hospital pharmacists irrate. The entire class including our associate dean was laughing like there was no tomorrow.

Excellent. It's nice to know my thoughts are discussed in classrooms thousands of miles away. Clearly San Fran is the vanguard of pharmacy education.

More Turkey for me. As bright as you are, you are the only 20 something year old curmudgeon.

Yup..got a turkey in the smoker.. 👍

I really hate turkey tho. But I have to do my part to keep the turkey farmers of America surviving.

Only colonial rebels celebrate Thanksgiving.

I am a loyalist.

God save the Queen.

What's wrong with you people. If you cook turkey properly it's the best... Turkey sandwiches for the next few days both hot & cold......

take some pictures of that dude...put it in the pic thread! I'd like to see this and give us some "how to" directions!

I'll just do it here.

Grill.

It has a slide chamber where I can put wood chips. Usually hickory or fruit tree works. The heat is provided through natural gas so I can keep the grill/smoker at 250 degrees or so.

Then rub the turkey with spice and seasoning of your choice. It also helps to brine the turkey overnight. Make sure you put the turkey on a stand to prevent sogginess. The stainless bowl you see contains seasoning in water. It's actually boiling to provide moisture in the smoker.

Smoke 30 minutes per pound. This is a 14 pound turkey so it will go for 7 or 8 hours. I will take it out when the deepest part of the meat is 165 degrees. This ensures salmonella and other bugs will be gone. There's really nothing to it.

Agreed. I'm at my parents for Thanksgiving, they've got a turkey roasting in the oven as we speak. Better believe I'm taking as much of the leftovers as possible back to Rochester with me.

Have you ever tried deep frying a turkey, Z?

You stick with your philly cheese steak..

We'll do our BBQ and Smoking here just fine! Oh..and Deep Frying.

I will post pictures of my custom made rocket fueled dual chambered high output crawfish boiler I use for deep frying when I have a crawfish boil next spring. I don't feel like taking out my boiler/fryer.

That being said, yes I have... deep fried turkey gets little dried.

What's wrong with us people? We are from Texas...we do everything better here!

I knew it wouldn't take you too long to convert.. People outside of Texas just don't understand... but that's aight.

I've been to Bellvue, Colorado. I like it there thank you very much!

I was leaning towards:

Bellevue has long been a pioneer in identifying and categorizing mental illness, in training psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses and in formulating effective treatment options combining science and psychosocial support that allow even seriously ill patients to return to more normal lives.

I love smoked turkey!

My boyfriend does a good job of cooking it on the grill, too

Bird looks good Z!

Cject...you guys settle on going out?

Spiri's only got a few mouths to feed, so went with a honey brined breast. Getting ready to roast in the oven with fresh herbs, pearl onions and sherry wine...

What an awesome family you have 👍

Goldie, it's good to see you. Hope all is well and pass my wishes on to Dally and phatib if you see them. 🙂

But it's got lot's of room for pics. :biglove:

ummmm... you shouldn't be storing your pictures on your computer y'know. I keep em all in my external HD..which bogged out after 4 years. Fortunately I backed up my Ex HD on another Ex HD...

Happy Thanksgivings Cheburashka! 😍 I should be studying too, but can't seem to stay off SDN. It's even more addictive than Facebook! 😱

Well, I have him set it up so it mirrors the data to both 1 TB hard drives. It automatically writes to both so that if one fails, the other should be ok. Then I back up the edited files on the 1.5 TB internal, and 1 TB external.

Did you build this? By the way, I appreciate that holiday season rant in the OT thread.
Oddly, I bought it custom built for cheaper than I could have done it myself. I'm going to upgrade this Spring when those 6-core processors come out. They will be able to encode 3 hours of 1080p HD video in like 45 minutes. Yowza.

where is the after shot?

We went with some friends to a friends relative's house. They also took in some airmen in basic training. It was real nice!

Looks nice dude! I need to get me one of those grill/smokers when I buy my first house!

I wish I was invited to this party. My mom didn't want to cook so we ate at Chinatown instead. 🙄

Same here only it was Italian-ish

I liked spending time with my parents but now I feel horrible about not getting any studying done. Everyone's so ahead.

Yeah, I didn't get much done either! 🙁 Next semester I really need to just spend the extra $$$ and print out all my notes and powerpoint slides from my computer...that way there is a chance that I can actually study and stay off of SDN and Facebook. LOL...I guess I can study NOW till Sunday...proberly won't happen though!

I got a chili hot dog, a Schmokehouse fried chicken sandwich, a pepperoni roll, 2 cookies, and a coke zero from Sheetz at 12:23AM. I was hungry as hell.

You stick to your guns, and that's one badass meal.

I didn't get much done either. I've been studying biochem since I have a test after the break, and I haven't made much progress since it's been kinda boring trying to study.

When I got on facebook and talked to one guy from my class, all he wanted to talk about was studying for biochem

Am I the only other person prepared to defend the Southern Thanksgiving???

Buffet at my grandmother's house.

Fried turkey, corn casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce, pies, stuffing...

Although I don't really like turkey alone either. It's best on a sandwich roll with cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes = )
