Hi everyone!

Since my stats are somewhat average for DO schools (3.58c, 3.45s, 27MCAT) but not competitive for MD schools, I was wondering what you guys think of my plan to apply this cycle. I am retaking my MCAT in July mainly to improve my chances for MD programs.

1. I will submit my AACOMAS application by next week to all my DO schools with my MCAT score.

2. I will also submit my AMCAS application by next week. However, I will only be selecting one school so that I can have my application verified while they wait for my MCAT score. Then when I get my score in August, I will add more schools to my application.

Since I have read that it was best to apply early, I am hoping this would give me the best chance. What do you guys think? Also, if I go this route, will I be able to update my AACOMAS application in August when I get my new score even though I didn't state that I would be retaking?

Thanks in advance!!

Why don't you just state you're retaking on your AACOMAS? The rest of the plan looks good though.

If I state that I am retaking, my application would be put on hold until my scores come in August. I'm worried that I would be too behind by then.

I think your plan has some issues, namely that if you do get an interview and accepted and your not mentioned mcat comes back with a lower score you may be dismissed.

Also I honestly think many schools especially those who openly stated that they take the best scores or the best mcat will interview you regardless.

Your MCAT is at or above the average for almost all DO schools, they would have no reason to wait for your retake before offering you an interview.
