Is this a good way to compare the quality of two schools?

Ok, ok... I know there are the countless threads about "ranking" dental schools. I don't want to get into arguments about that - but hear me out with this idea...

My top picks are UNLV and Marquette. They both have their pros and cons for me. If I got accepted to both schools, I really wouldn't know which one to choose.

I was thinking one way I could judge the quality of the schools would be to email a bunch of faculty (from schools other than UNLV and Marquette) that are involved with residency programs. I would ask them if they have had much experience working with UNLV and Marquette graduates, and if so, if they have noticed a general difference in their competency and skill level.

What do you think? Good idea? Waste of time? Any other ideas?

I agree with teddybearsuicide.... what are the pros and cons for you.

Compared to what? A bad apple from a school doesn't mean the school is worthless...... As many DS students have said: You get out of DS what you put in. So your competency and skill level will depend on the work you put in.
I basically applied to more clinically oriented schools (because that was the first thing I looked for)... now I am just hoping that I get to choose the school that I feel I will be most happy at based on my interview, school tour, and visiting the surrounding area.

Another case of counting hatchlings a little too early. As for blanketing a "bunch of faculty" that it certain to have the faculty trip over themselves to give you a "bunch" of responses.

agree. no worries until there are worries...
there will be plenty of "toyota vs honda" threads post Dec 1....
