I'm not at my regular computer, so I'm not automatically logged in when I come to the forums. I just noticed that this forum (at least, when I come to the site) doesn't come up until I log in. Is it designed that way, or is my 23rd hour of being awake playing tricks on me?

This forum appears only to those logged in I believe, which is great cause the last thing we need is a bunch of random passby premeds/nurses/(naive medical students) minimizing the hell an intern is living.

It's designed this way. There were a lot of inflammatory posts, because I think that people were reading these threads, and then registering just so they could join in the flame-fest. The admin then made this forum so that only registered members can see it.

(Don't ask me how this solves the problem, but it evidently did since things quieted down in here, so....😕)

The forum does not appear until you log in. You need to register to see it.

Users wanted an intern forum so that they could air out their frustrations freely. This attracted trolls and honestly outraged one-time posters who happened on the forum and read the posts out of context.

It works just like you suggest - people browsing the site (lurkers) won't see it, so they can't take offense, and the result is a quieter forum.

Yep, that's why it was done.

You would see a lot of users who would register just to post on the threads in this forum. If they don't see it, they won't register unless a registered user tips 'em off to the EM or nurse bashing here.😀
