Is it considered an early or late application if it was submitted to AADSAS at the end of July but AADSAS did not send a printout to the schools until mid Sept???

i didnt know u send a printout as well as submit online. i thought u just submit online and it takes ~ 6 weeks to get to schools

Ya, that's what I meant. It was submitted online at the end of July and it took AADSAS 1month and a half to send it to the schools.
I thought sending it in July was relatively early but if it didn't get there until September does that make it late?

its not that late..but definitely not early. a good chunk of applications will have reached the schools before yours will.

End of July won't be late, but keep in mind most people don't actually apply in May/June. AADSAS will have a quicker turn around on getting the printout to the schools if you apply early. August and Sept is probably when AADSAS gets most of their submissions, and it bogs down the turn around time. So what used to be 4-6 weeks with a June submission will turn into 6-8 weeks with an August submission.

the most important factor though is how fast interview slots fill up in schools. I submitted my app in August, and the dental schools received my apps at the end of October. By that time, Columbia's interview slots was full until January, and for BU, I got an interview slot at the end of February. The earlier you apply, the better the interview slots, and the higher the chances.
