Is this bad for my application?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
No assuming you have a reasonable sGPA. No matter what it is likely not something you should bring up in your application.

If you have consistently performed well in your pre-reqs, upper level science classes, and MCAT then you will have already demonstrated your ability to succeed academically. I would not draw special attention to these courses on your application. If it comes up during your interview (which I doubt) you can simply explain your reasoning as above.

Huh, well that makes me feel kinda worse actually because I did not do so great in my pre-reqs….only got A's in Physics I and II and an A in organic II (B+'s in the rest with one B- 🙁). But I did take Genetics, Biochemistry, Brain and Behavior and two upper level Neuro. courses (Pharmacology and Neurobiology circuits) and got A's in all those. Unfortunately though, those are the only upper-level biology courses that will show on my transcript come app time…I will take my MCAT in April or May.

Now…am I screwed?

My sGPA is 3.74 🤔 not too sure how those courses will look now considering the not-so-great GPA

F*CK*NK STOP THIS KINDA THINKING. YOU DID BETTER THAN A LOT OF PEOPLE. THOSE ARE NOT BAD AT ALL. STOP BEING THAT CRAZY PRE-MED THAT IS OBSESSED WITH JUST A'S. THERE'S SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT. A FEW B'S DOESN'T HURT, I DON'T CARE WHETHER THEY ARE -'S OR +'S. GAAAAAHHHHHHH PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE ME SO MAD, YOU'RE ACTING JUST LIKE A CHICK I STUDIED WITH. SHE IS SO OBSESSED WITH GETTING A'S THAT SHE DOESN'T EVEN CARE FOR THE MATERIAL, SHE JUST WANTS AN A. (if that doesn't make sense to anyone, then oh well, I don't know how to explain it)

I don't know what your definition of "great" is, but a mix of A's/B+'s with a sGPA of ~ 3.74 is certainly sufficient for the sake of admissions. Last year's average sGPA for matriculants was 3.63, for what that's worth. Keep up the good work and you'll be fine. 🙂

I'm a Neuroscience major, so a lot of my classes tend to emphasize the research/scientific method side of learning. During my junior year, I've taken six "Independent Study" NEUR research credits as electives and another 4 BIOL credits for a research internship (although this was technically for my major). While this did increase my sGPA, they were not easy classes/work by any means.

I only took 10 research credits throughout my undergrad career, but will adcoms still hold the fact that I took research credits against me? Will they think I was just trying to raise my GPA? Should I address this on my application (like what all I did in the classes to show that I actually worked hard)?
I took a similar path, ended with a similar GPA and it's worked out for me so far. I wouldn't worry too much.

That's not my point. I don't care about the A's/B+'s. I'm trying to say that those B+'s are in like a continuous line on my transcript. And in almost every single pre-req (including the labs). And because a user specifically mentioned pre-req grades in reference to my thread, I stated mine with uncertainty. I also remember one of the adcoms on here mentioned that some schools specifically look at pre-req grades, so that's my issue.

…..But SDN also does make me neurotic at times so your point is noted 🙂.

Good, I didn't mean to come off as an a-hole so thanks for not taking it as such. I understand you have a few B's. They won't hurt with your kinda GPA. Again, I'm not an ADCOM so I can't be sure, but by what I've seen over the past couple of years, you'll be fine.
