Ok so I was wondering about pre - reqs for med school. Currently at this point in time im taking 1 pre - req per semester. Idk but in the past i have taken two pre med req's in one semester and mostly drop due to having a bad grade. Idk are my study habits not working or should i just dish the whole pre med idea. Is me taking one pre med class per semester going to affect me much?

I'm not sure what you're saying here...do you mean when you take more than 1 pre-req for medical school, you drop one of them because you don't do well in it? If that's the case, then yes, that's bad. More than a few "W" grades on the transcript raise red flags because it appears that you can't handle the material. It is also a problem that you can't handle more than one pre-req at a time. Medical school is going to be like taking 26 credits of pre-reqs in a semester, but only in much more detail than what your undergrad courses cover. Perhaps your study plan is not very good. What have you been doing to study?

read lecture notes over and over till it sticks.

This is probably the least effective way to study. In my experience, lecture notes only outline the content on a very basic level. Exams are more likely to ask questions on a more detailed level. Therefore, I would recommend reading the sections in your text books about the topics your instructors covers in class until it sticks. Lecture notes alone are definitely not enough!

I agree with DRIN, that is probably one of the worst ways to study - it takes ages to learn anything that way, and you'll rarely get understanding out of it. Read through them once, with the textbook, make dot points of key ideas and then expand on those, draw mindmaps, use flashcards, write essays on learning objectives and do practice questions. Just reading through your lecture notes isnt going to cut it, especially if you want some understanding and to be able to remember it for any length of time.

I disagree. Everyone's way of learning is different. Personally, I am usually able to just glance over my lecture notes a few times the night before and still manage to get A's. As for exam questions and the detail of lecture notes, I think it really depends on the professor.

You should probably seek counseling. This forum is for advice mainly, not for someone to shape your life. You post lots of related threads. How about you find out what you really want to do in life? and then proceed from there...

OP, you have posted several very similar threads asking for advice on study habits. You have basically seen all the advice that can be offered from an internet forum, and if that is not enough for you, seek help from your professors, advisor, tutors, friends, family, or otherwise.

I'm not denying that it is largely dependent on the professor as far as the detail of their lectures...I qualified my statement by saying that it was my experience that lecture notes are just basic outlines and are not a good way to study (for me).
