I posted a thread a while pack saying that I had around 80 hours of inpatient work with severely autistic children and around 150 hours of volunteering as an on campus EMT. @Goro and @LizzyM suggested that I get another job/opportunity to get some clinical experience. I'm already taking one gap year, and I'm really opposed to taking another since every other part of my application is basically complete. My question here is would it be better to become a scribe with ScribeAmerica, or be a COVID tester at a nursing home. The job description of the Covid Tester is as follows:
  • Resident, Employee, visitor COVID-19 Swabbing
  • Scheduling and tracking testing according to current guidelines
  • Sending swabs to the lab
  • Tracking and tracing results
  • Operation of POC Antigen testing machine
  • Communication with Nursing Management of lab results and/or non-compliant staff with testing requirements
  • Communication with lab, Order supplies, Obtain results, Issues / Concerns
I also only got 80 hours out of my inpatient work because I had to abruptly quit after a month due to my grandmother being diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, and there was no one else in my family who was able to take care of her at the time. Should I still list this job on my app? I could explain the circumstances, I just don't know how my former bosses will respond if they are given a call because I couldn't put in my two weeks. Thanks again SDN!

I'd go for scribing. Testing is a monolithic clinical experience.

I think you should include the job and mention you had to quit to take care of a family member. Life happens.

Yes, list the 80 hrs of inpatient work.

The COVOD testing is in a grey area. If it were at a hospital or clinic, then I'd call if truly clinical.
