I've recently been volunteering at a hospital located near my university and I've been assigned basically to an information desk. My general duties include assisting people in person and over the phone in locating individual patients' room numbers, and particular areas of the hospital.

I was wondering, would this be considered as clinical experience? I realize that a saying has been circulating around here along the lines of "If you can smell the patients," so if I had to answer this question myself I would say no, but I'm not entirely sure that is the case which is why I'm asking.

I don't think so. You aren't interacting with the patients in a clinical sense, so I would say no. Just volunteering experience IMO. @Goro @gyngyn

Thanks for the response! I'll probably stick with it for now and transfer to a role with more direct patient contact next fall.

Not really clinical. You need to smell the patients.
