I have participated in the Breast Cancer 3-day and I wonder if it is considered volunteer work or community service. I personally don't think it is and I didn't put it in my application this last cycle, but I was wondering what the rest of you think.

If you don't anything about it...you basically get people to sponsor you for a 3-day, 60 mile walk. You have to raise a minimum amount of money to participate ($2200 this year). The money you raise, goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

Any thoughts?

YES, I would definitely put it in your app. You went out of your way to raise money for a charity and then you walked your ass 60 miles in 3 days! You gave back to the community by getting donations for breast cancer research or whatever that foundation does. Community service isn't all about feeding the homeless. I used to set up and breakdown chairs and tables for church and I put that on my app (why I was doing it will remain a secret :meanie:).

I put the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure as an extracurricular for the years I didn't volunteer and was only a race participant. I would put it under extracurricular rather than community service.

If you put in the same amount of work once a month over the span of a year, there would be absolutely no question, right?

I would definitely include it.
