I applied to a women's leadership on campus internship for next year. It would be about 6 hours per week and paid. Basically I'd be planning events, some related to promoting STEM but otherwise not medically relevant. Would this be a waste of my time or a good unique experience? I have not heard back yet, just thinking about if it is a good thing for me to do. I am also already in a research lab

Does it sound like something youd enjoy doing? That alone should tell you if it's worth doing or not. Though I'm not sure if it's considered an EC if its paid.

EDIT: It wont be considered a volunteer activity if it's paid*

It’s an EC but not a volunteer EC. Remember, employment can be listed as an EC. If it is something you’re interested in and would like to pursue go for it. It’s much better to pursue things that interest you than just to try to check off some boxes in an application. Interviewers can smell genuine interest in an activity from a mile away.

Do it if you're interested, don't do it if you're not. That should be the guiding principle for all ECs. Doing something just to get into med school will just make you not want to put forth as much effort/dedication into the EC, which isn't fair for anyone involved. If you're going to do something, give it your all!
