someone mentioned to me teaching online classes during residency to PAs and NPs -- this seems like a great gig. would this be considered moonlighting in a program that doesn't allow moonlighting?
do most programs that don't allow moonlighting throw you out if you get caught?

I wouldn't count that as moonlighting, but my opinion is worthless. Only the chairman and/or PD count. If angered, your program can do whatever they want to your career. You want to keep them happy. If you aren't interested in down low moonlighting, just ask your PD and get an up or down answer. If you're willing to venture into gray areas, ask around among senior residents. They should be able to guide you.

That's a great answer. I'd interject that if a program has a hard and fast no moonlighting rule they will say no to everything including a paper route. If they didn't then they would have to evaluate everything that comes up and the purpose of a hard and fast no moonlighting rule is to avoid that.
