Is it normal to just concentrate on one subject and completely ignore the 2nd. Im taking cell biology atm and organic chemistry but im not putting in the same amount of work for both. I never really studied in highschool so my study skills are really bad. What should i do study both or does that cause confusion between subject matters. Also when memorizing stuff do you go through the terms until it clicks or what?

No, if you hope to do well, you shouldn't ever ignore a subject. You must find a balace between studying for different classes. Usually, you can find overlap between course material, so studying for both adequately should not cause confusion.

Of course you have to study for more than one class at a time! You shouldn't get the concepts confused because really, there is only one right answer to most things. It's not like cell biology is going to teach that glucose is shaped one way while organic teaches another. If anything, they'll teach two approaches to similar material, giving you more chances to master it. Mostly, however, there will be little overlap.

Think of it this way, in medical school you'll have several challenging science classes at once. It'd go very badly if you only studied for one of them!

It really depends on your capacity for different material. If you grasp some concepts alot faster than others, then you dont have to worry about the one that you can do. work on the things hard for you.

There's something to be said for prioritizing your work, but ignoring one subject for the sake of another isn't really the right way to do it.

Staring at a paper and hammering yourself with terms out of context rarely does any good; if you can understand the overarching concepts behind what you're doing, the terminology tends to fall in place along with it.

I'm taking both those classes right now too. And to be honest it is better to study both, instead of just concentrating on one and not the other. You can study organic for like 2 hours, then switch to cell for 2 hours, then on to something else. Studying nothing but organic nonstop isn't good cause: 1) you'll burn yourself out focusing just on that 2) you'll be ignoring the gloriousness of Cell Biology! 3) you'll probably end up failing the one you are ignoring.

Just set up a study schedule like I mentioned. I usually study a subject for 2-3 hours and switch over myself. Unless it is a difficult chapter and more time is needed. You just need to find what is right for you, cause everyone learns/studies different.

This is not normal for pre-reqs that are weighted heavily and count towards your sGPA. Cell Bio isn't a pre-req, but organic is, but both count towards your sGPA.

Focus on those and if at all, place less focus on classes you can afford to do so in (eg. easier non-science).
