Is this realistic? CC courses

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Some schools won't accept online or CC pre-reqs. You'd probably need to check the MSAR or email schools that you are interested in to see if they'd be acceptable.

That being said, a few of the adcoms in the pre-allo forums have said that there is a bias against taking prereqs at CC. You may be able to get better advice over there.

Thanks for your reply! I guess I will re-post this there 🙂

There is some data from the AAMC that shows students that attended CC matriculate to medical school at slightly lower rates. While the data doesn't show that CC classes are the cause for this, as there are variety of factors that may come into play, it is there. Some non-trads take some pre-reqs at CC and finish the upper division / more challenging classes at a 4 year university. Many non-trads have taken all of their courses at CC and been able to matriculate just fine. The challenge is making a choice that you can live with. Definitely get a copy of the MSAR to see if the schools in your state have a bias against CC classes / online classes / AP credits (note: many schools do not accept AP credits). The good news: you have a history of high academic achievement which hopefully may dispel any idea that your grades in CC courses are due to it being at a community college.

Yes, some MD schools are biased against core req sciences at cc and/or online, but some are not. Contact individual schools or look at their websites. However, even for those that are not you still need to rock the MCAT or they will think your class grades were due to easy classes. DO schools are in general accepting of cc courses. Good luck
