Is this timeline possible?

• Fall 2014- Take Orgo 1 and Bio 1
• Spring 2015- Take Orgo 2 and Bio 2; graduate from undergrad in May of 2015
• Summer 2015 -Take Physics 2 and Biochemistry as a non-degree seeking student (I've already taken Phys 1, this will complete all my pre-reqs)
• Fall 2015- Take the MCAT; also, apply to medical schools within this same semester that I take the MCAT
• Spring 2016- interviews, acceptance decisions (hopefully I get a yes)
• Fall 2016- Begin medical school

For reference, USF (South Florida, not San Fran) my target school's deadlines this year are November 7 for MCAT scores and November 15 for AMCAS. Basically, what I'm asking is:

tl;dr- What's the latest date I can take the MCAT and still submit my scores for it on time for early November deadlines?

You don't want to aim your application to go in just before the deadline, you want to aim for as close as possible to when it opens. Taking the MCAT in Fall and applying then is a poor choice.

Taking MCAT and applying in fall will be late. You may have some luck at your state schools, but likely you will be shut out unless you are a superstar applicant.

To clarify... are you guys saying that applying near the deadlines, even I physically get everything in on time, would make me less appealing as an applicant? Huh, if that's the case then they might as well just move the deadlines up to where they want them.

The deadlines are the last day that applications will be accepted. Those who apply at the end of the allowable time frame get whatever is leftover (just like every other deadline). You will be just as appealing, but will be competing for a very small number of positions.

Even the non-rolling acceptance schools favor the early applicant. It's only the acceptance that is delayed, not the evaluation.

 

[Time Table]

Take Physics 2 in the Fall of 2014, and see if you can take Biochem in the Spring of 2015. Also, since you'll be taking the new MCAT, you might want to add Intro to Psych and Sociology so that you'll have all your bases covered for the MCAT and med school requirements. If you can finish Biochem in the Spring of 2015, you can take the MCAT at the end of your finals, thereby studying for the MCAT and your classes. Taking the earlier May/June MCAT will allow you to submit primary ASAP and then send scores by end of June/early July. You'll still be competitive assuming good MCAT/GPA. However, you might be better off taking a gap year to study and prepare for the MCAT instead of rushing into it with this schedule.
