I just got off the phone with the rudest "lady" ever from TMDSAS. Here is my situation: I am a double major so I don't always take science courses. However, the TMDSAS "lady" was getting mad at me for not having any recent LORs. One science prof LOR is from May 2010. Another science prof LOR is from May 2011. The dentist LOR is from summer 2010. I haven't taken a science course (other than physics) since a year ago, so I cannot possibly have had a recent LOR. However, instead of being helpful, the "lady" told me "Well, the other applicants take sciences courses in all their semesters." 😡
The "lady" told me the TMDSAS Evaluation Forms are not required but that "they are certainly preferred" by admission committees.
SDN, what is your advice?

I feel like I should just submit my application and then try over the next two weeks to track down my profs and dentist...and have them feel out the TMDSAS Evaluation form. However, if I do this, won't it delay my application being sent to dental schools? (TMDSAS Evaluation Form must accompany the LOR) :scared:

Track down your professors/dentist. Tell them to fill out the evaluation form and stick a new date on the letters. It shouldn't delay you that much. At most, this will take you a week to do. If you cant find the letter writer, then just go with what you have. I would try to cover all my bases just to be safe.

Consider yourself lucky the rude "lady" called your attention to an oversight on your part.

Second what AwesomeTeeth said. I'm in the middle of doing that exact same thing. Already submitted my application on 6/6 and am frantically trying to get my LORs and eval forms completed. But to answer your question "I feel like I should just submit my application and then try over the next two weeks to track down my profs and dentist...and have them feel out the TMDSAS Evaluation form. However, if I do this, won't it delay my application being sent to dental schools?"

This is quoted from the TMDSAS homepage from an 'important announcement' they made: "05.31.2012: Applications are transmitted to schools even if TMDSAS has not received all supporting documents. Schools are updated on a daily basis with supporting documents."

Hey man, doc, I really appreciate you helping me out with my PS, but for real, stop with the insolent remarks. They are completely unnecessary. If you have nothing helpful to say, then don't say anything at all. That simple. Thanks 👍

The evaluation form is only for individual (not committee) letters, right? Does TMDSAS review applications even if the letter of recommendation hasn't been sent?

Your energy might be better spent paying attention to the essence of the info you are given than throwing temper tantrums.

same thing happened to me..
I believe we have spoken to the same LADY!!!
well, I contacted every all my professors and the dentist to rewrite it for me.
Once they prefer!! you know what they mean..

good luck to you

I honestly didn't know the date you took the class with the professor actually mattered. I had one of my professors who taught a class in May 2011 write mine as well. Yeah I thought the evaluation forms were required lol but they don't seem to be a problem or anything

Talk about biting the hand that just fed you. 👎

Just because a person is nice once, does not mean they can be rude to you (many times) and it be okay. I have gratitude for doc, but I also have dignity. I politely asked him to stop being needlessly rude to me, and he responded with yet another impudent remark. I just want to come to my thread and see helpful posts, not cheeky things designed to stir up commotion on a forum that is supposed to be used to help people.

Doc Toothache is really snarky but he's helped out countless premeds on these boards, including you and I. Don't let him get to you. I usually picture Dr. House talking when I read his posts because they're similar in tone and "truthiness".

I don't get why everybody is putting "lady" in quotation marks?
