So I was looking through the materials I need to buy for the MCAT and noticed that I took note of the TPRH Science Workbook and EK 1001 for all four subjects. Then I realized both TPRH SW and EK 1001 are books for practice problems. I don't think I wanna spend extra money on practice problems. My main question is: should I buy TPRH SW or EK 1001 for all four subjects?

I already have the EK 1001 for General Chemistry and it's all right... I guess. What are the contents of TPRH SW (i.e. number of problems, types of problems, quality of explanations)?

Thanks for any input.

Tprh has good practice problems and is definitely worth the investment IMO, however the practice problems in TBR are still much better--at least for PS.

I agree with above. However, the conceptual problems in physics are better in TBR and math questions in physics are better in TPRH. I would do TPRH over TBR in biology though.

Ideal recommendation: TBR for GC, OC, and Physics for specific practice; TPRH for additional general practice; EK1001 Bio for specific Bio practice
Cheaper recommendation: EK1001 only for Bio and TPRH for everything else
Also, get TPRH verbal and EK101 for verbal practice.

TPRH SW ALL THE WAY!!!

PHYSICS: 425 discretes/63 passages

GCHEM: 92 discretes/93 passages

BIOLOGY: 146 discretes/87 passages

OCHEM: 138 discretes/45 passages

Discretes are ok to work but you really need to be doing passages instead. There's a plethora of them in here... and most of them are pretty challenging. Not TBR hard tho...

Really? For me, GC, OC, and physics in TBR feels a bit easier than TPRH. Especially the "Advanced Passages" in TPRH are way harder than TBR, though that could just be me lol.

I love my workbook so much. If I had to pick one book out of all of my EK, TBR, and other materials, I would pick this book.

Thanks for the input everyone. One more question: Since the SW already has 87 biology passages, will getting TBR Biology be any more help? I've heard mixed reviews for the TBR Biology (i.e. content = too dense, passages = too hard/not reflective of the actual MCAT, a lot of hard passages will prepare you for the MCAT, etc.)? I already have the TPR Biology book and will be getting the TPRH SW.

Oh and is it true that there is no way to prepare for the biology section of the MCAT other than passages, passages, passages? Thanks again.

if you want additional bio practice, EK1001, which you say you already have, has about 110 passages with FSQs - more than enough to make TBR superfluous.

No don't waste $70 on TBR Bio if you already have TPR Bio and are getting TPRH SW.

And... how best to prepare for the BS of current tests? No clue. I'd say if you're solid at verbal and have good critical thinking skills that's the best you can do. Recently, I've heard folks saying just about everything they studied for Bio during the summer was not even seen on their test. Definitely know the concepts, but don't waste your time on memorizing every minute detail because the current test isn't factual, it's experimental...
