Hey people,
I am currently doing UW. Even though I tend to get a good 10% above the average, I am still in the early 60%. I still have 5 weeks to go until my exam. yet, I am starting to doubt the efficiency of my preparation for step 1. But before I do that I just wanted to ask people who have taken the test and used UW, if the real test is very similar in terms of difficulty level as UW? In other words, is getting 60% in UW good, or will I be border line passing? thank you for your kind support.

Uworld is definitely harder than the real test. It represents the most difficult questions.
I think 60% Uworld is pretty good. I'd say that correlates to somewhere in the 230's. Get it up to 80% and you're in the 260's.

the only consistent correlation i see is that a high usmleworld avg (75%+) usually equals a high step 1 score (245+). below a 75% avg on usmleworld, it starts to get fuzzy and harder to predict.

USMLE world represents the more difficult questions on Step 1. You are not going to see a lot of no-brainer type questions on UW, but you will see some on Step 1. I found it to be great practice, not just for learning concept but also because it got me used to what it feels like to be getting a low percentage of the questions correctly. I would not use UW scores to gauge your progress or predict your score, though. I got a 252, but my average on UW was only 60% and did not consistently improve over the 3 weeks I spent studying. Take an NBME exam if you want to check your progress.

Thank you guys for your opinions and putting things into perspective for me. I started doing UW for a few weeks. My baseline was 48% and slowly it improved to about 60%. Of course depending on the type of questions that I get, I go up to 68% or as low as 57%. But it circles around 60%. I am hoping, I can improve it so that my average is around 70% but thats only a wish at this moment. Just to be sure that I am doing things right, below is my daily studying pattern. I would wondering if you would be kind and tell me your opinions about it and any suggestions as how to improve it:
8-12 Review my notes that I have taken from UW or any other notes from goljan
12-1 Take a timed mixed set of 50 Q from UW .....headache (lol)
1-2 Correct it and take notes
2-3 Eat very lightly to avoid post meal "sluggishness"
3-4 Take a timed mixed set of 50 Q from Step 123 (Authored partly by Goljan)
4-5 Correct it
5-6 Dinner or maybe some fresh air
6-9 Read and memorize First aid
9-10 Webpath pictures or random questions from here or there but not timed. Mainly to play with questions and trying to remember random trivia related to the test of course. Thank you again for your truly appreciated opinions.
regards
