CVS gives a pitiful 2 weeks vacation per year. When you reach 5 years you get 3, and in 10 years I believe it's maxed out at 4 weeks. I can't think of any other profession where an employee who makes 6 figures doesn't get 4 weeks vacation per year plus holidays. Even administrative town employees who make 30k get 3 to 4 weeks plus holidays off.

Is it possible to forgo a raise and ask for more vacation time? I value time off more than pay.

If you want decent vacation time, don't work retail.

Thanks for the advice but there are no other full time jobs available within 200 miles of me.

Unfortunately there is no reason for retail to give out more vacation. Hopefully your numbers are off Walgreens gives you 4 weeks when you hit 5 years then it takes awhile to get more.

Not sure if cvs would allow it but have you tried getting time off without pay?

That's how most retail companies work for their vacation. Just be glad you don't work grocery store pharmacy like Kroger or Tom Thumb. They make you use your vacation 7 days at a time.

It can't hurt to try but I doubt they will budge on vaca time. 2 weeks really does suck and having to use a full week at a time is terrible.

Retail is general bad about vacation time benefits. However, if you work long shifts it can work out to your benefit. I worked with a pharmacist and they way they scheduled they worked 13 hour shifts and alternated weekends. Essentially on their long week they worked 5 days in a row, on their short week they worked 2. Each of them had 5 days off every other week and they'd travel or use 2 vacation days to give themselves a whole week off. I wouldn't mind a setup like that.
