Is visiting medical schools during application season (BUT NOT interviews)?

For those who visited medical schools during the application cycle but not for interviews, how helpful did you find it to be? What useful things did you accomplish?

Did you speak to an admissions director and did you find it to be helpful?
Did it help you to formulate a better answer to "why X School?" for secondary applications?
 
This seems like a massive waste of time just to answer "why X som" which you could do satisfactorily in about 45 minutes.
 
Do you mean like doing a second look after an interview? Because that could potentially help you learn more about a school you are on the fence about.

If you mean going to see a school that rejected you pre-interview, I don't see any reason to do this.
