Hello! I am looking for a distance program and I found one that is interesting for me at Walden but I am a little concern because I think that Walden is not considered as a good university. Am I right or not? Thank you

If you want an idea of Walden, it's even less known than the University of Phoenix (who nobody takes seriously anyways)... sorry for sounding so mean, but I haven't heard anything good about it at all. Most of these online places are just selling degrees for money.

That depends upon what you are interested in accomplishing, what state you live in, and what you put into your degree program. Having said that Walden University has excellent undergraduate and graduate programs, excellent professors for the most part and many flexible degree options.

I don't think the program is CEPH accredited, which may prove an issue if pursuing certain avenues of employment.

Walden is not well respected and definitely not CEPH accredited. You would be wasting your money.

I know some smart and dedicated people studying at Walden, but there are plenty of CEPH accredited schools offering MPH at a distance. UNC's executive MPH might be a good option if you are looking to concentrate in business aspects of public health.

What state are you in? There should be a state school that you could go to. I just don't trust those DeVry type programs. I see them as straight money pits.

This post was from 2005. The person that brought it current was the one who was promoting Walden. I think they were trying to drum up some business.

Walden University, like University of Phoenix, is a private for-profit university. Enough said.

I have a friend who's just completed her PhD in public health from Walden. Is she able to use this towards getting a job? Or was it a waste?

Private For-Profit institutions and universities are the scourge of US post-secondary education. They are, by an overwhelming majority, diploma mills and do not issue degrees that in any way represent an individual’s knowledge or abilities. They are in business for one reason-to generate profits-the margins of which are outright obscene. I categorically oppose any for-profit educational institution. The only thing that a for-profit diploma can be used for is to wipe away a graduate's tears once they realize that their education is quite literally a joke in the professional world, and thus the advent of employment is beyond grim!
