Yup. The questions make NO sense to me until I read the answer explanation. Sorry that it happened to you too, but it's nice to know that I'm not alone.
I'm definitely supplementing with the AAMC practice tests. Maybe those would help with determining where you really stand...

I am going through my ek set as well, but I decided not to do the 30 min exams first. I am planning to go through the stuff once and then the second time I would supplement each chapter with the 30 min exam. I guess my reasoning is unless you know the science at least to some extent you cant really answer those questions efficiently.
? How many times do you guys go through the chapter before doing the 30 min exam ?
p.s. I just ordered AO to supplement the books, I heard it helps.

Same problem. I understand the material when I read the chapters, the questions following the chapters are okay too. But the 30-minute exams make are suicide and really don't correspond to the lectures. How are you guys "scoring' on these? I keep getting 8s even though I think I know the material.

I have only done one of the 30min tests at the end of chapter 1 bio. I didn't really think there was anything wrong with it.
The mcat isn't going to follow in order with any text you purchase. I think it is better that they test you as a real MCAT would test.
The supplemental questions provided in the chapters are related to the reading and that is what makes them so easy. The 30min exam questions simulate the real exam much more effectively.
Or maybe I am just gloating because I scored a 14 on my first one. A week or two from now I will probably be singing a different tune.
