So I've been on sdn for years, gotten a lot out of it, but haven't contributed much. In any case, this is my way of letting everyone out there who has *average* board scores and didn't honor every single rotation...that you can not only match, but you can match at a program that you did not even think possible!

This was the case for me today, and I'm very thankful. Always aim for the best scores, but here are some things to do if you are "average": most importantly, SHOW INTEREST in anesthesiology! Believe me, LORs and PS can go a long way. Try to get involved in some research. Try to present somewhere. Try to get your PD at your school to maybe speak on your behalf. Don't be a robot at interviews. Let the program of your dream know that you would be a great fit. Demonstrate that you are a team player and that you are a fun person to be around. I truly believe that once you get an interview (and so at some level scores are important, as they will usually dictate whether you get one or not), all bets are off. Good luck to all 3rd years who are about to apply in, well, a few months. 👍
