It is over, I am in!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah it was one big lovefest between the admin and the ED applicants. There were only 13 of us and I bet all 13 got in. They told us since we had such a great interest in them they would treat us the same way.

You couldn't, with August MCAT.

Shades,

I know that 2 out of the 2 of us who post on this board regularly are in! Congrats, man, and I look forward to being classmates.

By the way, nice to meet you yesterday.

Plus now I get my shot at Ms. America 😉

Hahaha. don't count on it... What if she defers for another year? She will still be Ms. America when school starts and will most likely be obligated to attend events and stuff

CONGRATS though!

Hey man, congrats! 👍 B-ham is one of those cities that flies under the radar. I really liked it there when I visited.

Wouldn't mind joining you next year, but I guess that would depend on whether I ever actually get a secondary.

honestly, are they ever gonna send out of state secondaries

Early Decision Plan.

Woohoo! Way to go, makes me wish I had gone EDP.

Congrats Shades and Marvin 🙂

Congrats fellow EDP'ers!

I interview at the University of Kansas on Thursday and was accpeted Friday! These quick decisions are awesome.

How many people does your school interview for ED? About how many of those do they take?

At KU, they interviewed 39 and will take most of them. (Last they took everyone they interviewed for ED except one person.)

Hey congrats to all the successful EDP'ers!

A quick question about the process. did all of you who just got EDP-accepted exceed the MCAT/GPA reqs for the schools you got into? Did you majorly exceed them or basically meet their averages?

Thanks and great job, again,

Ock

I was an odd duck. I had very poor freshman year, but a strong upward trend afterwards. Even so, my GPA was only 3.3 cumm. and 3.2 science. However, I had a 35 on the MCAT. The soft cutoffs are supposed to be 3.5 and 28. Apparently they made an exception for me.

I only had a 3.67 (UAB says they require a 3.6), but I did have a 36 MCAT (they require a 30). I was also in chemical engineering, which probably made my GPA look fine to them.

Similar to Stoic. I was also accepted to the University of Kansas. MCAT of 28 and GPA of 3.6 which means I just met the asking price, but I guess that is ok.

Congrats Shades!

I would like to congratulate you on getting in! The beginning of your medical career will start in a little less than a yeah! However, I do have a couple of questions for you EDers.

When I interviewed I had my heart set on a given school (MAYO) but came to love another school even more during the interview process (UPITT). Do you think that by doing the ED you actually miss out on finding your ideal school? (I understand that some stress is alleviated, but in your case, with your scores, you would have gotten into many medical schools.)

Also, what are the %ages for ED candidates interviewed and then subsequently accepted?

Thanks and good luck!

Rocco 👍

congrats to ya!!! that's pretty awesome that they informed you in one day. 🙂

Well I really feel like I fell in love with UAB but who knows, there may be a better school for me out there. I just cant beat the price of staying instate and getting to go to a top 25 school.

I think 13 of 13 that applied ED with me got in.

that's awesome! congrats!

I can't speak for everyone that did EDP, but I know a few, and many of us did it because one school was really the obvious choice and that might be for reasons other than "it was the best fit" or "I really 'loved' the school/program." I applied EDP because my wife already attends the same college and I don't want to have a long-distance marriage. I also happen to really like the school I'm applying EDP to, so I guess for me it is a no-brainer.

I think you will find that many people that apply EDP do it because they are somewhat restricted geographically due to family (this is the case for 4 out of the 5 EDPers I know)

My guess is that more than 13 applied ED. They only interviewed 13 EDPers, right? But hey, what do I know.
