hi ,
i want to start a thread regarding candidates who have gotten IV with less than 80 percentile in part1 (only) and no part2 .

Is there anyone in this situation , i have scored 78 in part1 , have no clue what to do ?

Hey boddy<
You got part I, just get the Part II now and start an application to dental school wich has not setted up high Score Board like 90 or above!
Hope this help u.

I agree, take part 2 and then see. Loma Linda for example doesn't have minimum scores but they require both to be taken. It's not just about the scores anyway, your hand skills are very important.
Good luck.

thank u for the reply . i will take part2 asap.looks like i am the only person who is in such terrible situation with part1 -78.🙄

thanks once again and god bless u all 🙂

Me too scored 78 in part 1 .Im also lost...im totally upset.I dont know what to do...😕😕

hi mothersmiledont ,

so what is ur plan ? r u applying with part1 78 ?i did apply to uic but no use as of now .🙁

You need to offer something else in order to compensate, high GPA, TOEFL etc.Apply to unpopular universities

i have couple of friends who got less than 80.. they are confused too..

one of my close friend recently got 79..

what u r planning to do??? did u start preparation for part 2? which all coll u r applying?

loma linda has recommended part 1 scores of 81... i think thts out of case..

hi,i also got 79 u guys are not the only one but what to do !!! but i will apply with these marks bcoz after 2010 no one will be able to retake exams to improve marks.

hi ,,,so did u apply or r u planning on applying ,i really dnt know how to tackle this situation

Apply to South Harmon Institute of Technology. Scores don't matter much. Don't tell anyone I told you and don't make the university very popular.

Assuming you have got into some program, this is a very un-funny joke. I agree 70's is a bit less, but they have dreams too.

For those who don't know, South Harmon is a made up college from the movie "Accepted".

To answer the question above; it sure is very 'unpopular'.

I am trying to be serious here.
I was accepted to the university of Colorado. Why I chose it-I had a feeling, like premonition, that this is a good choice. They only wanted passed score, mine was 79,they did not brake down TOEFL, mine 103,but only 21 writing, so it was not good enough for UCLA, GPA3.53, not too good, but not bad ether.I did have very good references and personal statement. My next choice was Chicago, because they only take permanent residents, competition lower. So if it is cold and they do not want much, you have better chances.
I could have had exam one more time or had part 2, but I was sick and tired of exams and decided to try.If it did not work, I would have kept taking exams and applying

Congratulations! You give people hope. Two thumbs up!

I guess most of you who think ppl will give hopes or the ones who are getting admitted will show the golden steps.......its in vain. Dont expect that. Having said that nobody is all evil and all are not angels. So reviewing one's mistake is something which is more important from now onwards. And please learn to boldly ignore those who belittle your ambitions. Thats what this country is all about. I dont understand how easy it is for somebody to pull off some puny sarcastic comment.
PROTECT YOUR DREAMS AND DONT EVER LET SOMEBODY SAY YOU CANT DO SOMETHING.

I recall that when I was applying a year ago, the forum was full of notes from people with NBDE 1 scores above 90, and it was so depressing to read all that with my score at the time being below 85. Yet at that time I could re-take NBDE 1 again, and I registered for it, and I remember that this emotional stress even caused me to pause my NBDE 1 preparation for about a month. My hopes were really low at the time, and guess what... now having retaken and slightly improved my NBDE 1 (only to 85), having taken and passed NBDE 2, plus having improved my SOP, done observerships and a couple other things, I had four interview invitations this year and now I have an offer from the school of my choice. I'm writing this all to tell you that it's a nerve-breaking process for everyone, and most importantly don't give up your hopes even with 79, keep applying to some schools (as described by Oralcare, for example) and keep improving the rest of the package. Good luck to you!

Do not forget, interview matters.I am a very good speaker, able to answer any question originally. And obviously they liked my personal quolities.
The main thing- low score was the only bad thing about me, everything else-good,practical part of the interview- exellent.

Wow.... Zobarste & oralcare123...hats off to you! Your hard work paid off ....Congratulations!! This is what we need...people who are willing to help with encouraging words and sharing own experiences😍!!Instead some browse through threads and waste their time with "Jokes" & poking others, thinking they are smart & funny and without knowing that they are making a fool out of themselves!!

Just because someone got into a school doesn't mean that they are any superior than others and just because you didn't get into a school doesn't mean you are in any ways inferior than others [including me].So take good things shared by good people from this forum and try to improve ourselves.Don't waste time on reading disheartened & discouraging words and feel lost!

If we all can come this far, definitely we can make it to a US school. So just because of low scores ,don't lose hope....look for what is positive about you & faith in yourself.....Sure we all can make it!!:xf::xf:
Good Luck to all!:luck:

hey ! part 1,we with 79 have to apply with these marks bcoz now we cannot improve to better marks, plus from now onwards scores will go less than 90 bcoz nobody can repeat exam ,if they pass .

I saw this post months ago and I wanted to wait to share my experience.

So today is the day I finally got to do my :banana:dance. I got accepted at UIC today. I have IV at two other schools this year and finally I got in!.As a Hispanic female it has been a really hard road since we got our education in spanish. So we DO NOT HAVE SOCRES LIKE MOST OF YOU who were educated in English I have more than 5 friends who are in the international program(NYU. UPENN AND NOVA) and their best score was a 86 on part I...but guess what they all have been working here as assistants or Hg for years...so now I can tell you all that is a big + because we got invitations and we are in. I would love to share my stats and give an advice from my heart.

First of all. Do not give up. God has a plan Trust him!. Then look for a job on the field. I iv with other great professionals with amazing scores I was freaking out but just one out of the five was working as an assistant the other 4 were not. I am not really sure if they are in or not but I am and here are my stats:

my stats:
Part 1: 77

Part 2:75
GPA: 2.98
Toefl: 110
5 years of dental assistant exp. Lots of volunteer work (dental and no dental related).

Faith....hard work...! Good luck to all.:luck:

hey every1 i retook the exam this year and my score came down with a whooping 5%.. i had 84 last year and i retuk it in sept and now i got 76... im so depressed... plz tell me what i should do and where i should apply.. i see no reason to take part2 coz with this score i will end up nowhere.. im thinking of opting for MHA.. atleast it won't be this frustrating.. i have lost all confidence now :-(

Hi Gdentist,

Do not be disheartened. If possible retake the exam or proceed with part 2 preparation.
Best of luck for whatever you decide. Your patience will pay off.

Hey Gdentist

I got 84 in part 1 but no interview calls yet. I am also discourged but we should keep on trying. Dont lose hopes and think bout part 2 as I am also thinking in the same way. We can try for next year. Some universities dont focus much on scores but on your experience. Just do your best and tryyyyyy

My advice take Part II and do your best!!!!. Some of the school dont ask for specific score...I dont have the list but I know that. Keep it up!!!. Dont rush to spend your money this year get your part II done and try next year!. Best of luck!:luck:

aha thanx alot guys ....but how come we can retake the exam !!!!!!it`s not possible
and u ferenditta thanx 4 ur support .....i`ll try to keep on goin as u mentiond🙂

hi everyone
i took the nbde part 1 in june 2010 and scored 75... it ws v v shocking as i had never scored so low in the mock exams tht i took.. i scored 112 in toefl and my gpa is 3.86.
i graduated in 2009 and worked only for 4 months in india. as a student i had done 2 short term research projects with the indian council of medical research and have a publication too with an online journal. also thr a few conference presentations and research methodology workshops tht i have been selected to attend in india. i have 3 recommendation letters, one frm the dean of my dental school, one frm a faculty member n one frm my employer in india.
as of now, am observing with a local dentist for 2 months and observing surgeries with a periodontist in the area too.
i am v concerned if the above profile is gud enough to earn me at least one interview call in some college. plz advice me regarding this.
also, recently a frnd who got admission in one of the dental schools advised me to request fro recommendation letters frm the dentists with whom am observing currently? is it wise to send these letters now tht my app with all the colleges is complete?
i have applied to UPenn, BU, NYU, Marquette, UAB and UTHSCSA.. is thr any place else tht i stand a chance? do let me know. i am v v worried about my admission as of now.

Hello, i only got 78 on my nbde part 1. and i applied the international dentist program for UIC, UPenn, Marquette, NYU, and Pacific for year 2011. So far i didnt get any invitation to the interviews. is that means im out of luck?
I also applied UConn and Rochester's AEGD. USC's prothodontics, and BU's periodontist. And now im going to interview for USC and UConn. Does anyone have experience or suggestions on those programs?
is there any chances for me to get in any of these programs with my status? thank you!

hey man.. thats really good...just do well on interview.. as u said u got IV in Uconn and USC...

it will be great if u can share ur profile stats.. i mean apart from part 1, did u gave part 2? what was ur gpa and r u enrolled in any masters program in USA? how much professional experience you have...

i will be glad to know and also it will be very helpful for others too..

i got a 77 , i didnt study much though it was just an attempt to get a feel of the exam and the next thing i came to know was that there wud be no more attempts after 2010, what did i do to my career🙁 jeez

anyway now i am left with a GPA of 3.83
distinction in CD
2 years of exp as a DA
toefl sucked too because of my stupidity and its a 93 for now but will improve it

now what are my chances? what school wud be willing to take me? where should i apply? CA schools would not even want to consider my application i guess,,, what should i do? plz do suggest.

my part 1 score is 78, toefl is 93. my gpa is less than 3. i didnt pass my part 2 yet.
i only had 1 yr working experience after i graduated from China. i only have bachelor of dental surgery degree, no master degree.

what is the standard of doing good on interviews? i really dont know how to prepare for it. I was just thinking to answer whats on my mind and being myself. Does anyone have any suggestions or guidlines for interviews? thank you!

Hi Dr hazel,

My stats are similar to yours.Did u get in anywhere? Please write back!

I got 79 in part 1 and 93 in TOEFL, i got 3 interviews, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Puerto Rico... Im a dentist latin. People who scored lower than 80 try to be positive, and find out universities with your profile, there are a lot schools that dont require high scores, examples San Antonio, New jersey, Chicago, Upenn, Loma Linda, SF, Oklahoma, NY, Colorado... Remember if you get an IV, you are in the same level with other ones, and also 2012 no numerical score just pass or fail... so BE POSITIVE
