I've been waitlisted within the Top 10

Really, really good news everybody. I have been waitlisted at one of my top schools and was informed that I am within the Top 10. This is the closest I have come to an acceptance thus far in an application cycle where I thought I would amass no interviews at all (also this is my first app cycle). To stave off my anxieties, what do you guys think the likelihood of getting off the waitlist and accepted would be?

BONUS- The school is in a notoriously "dangerous" city. However, I love the school and the people there so it would be a no brainer for me.

I’d say very high, especially if there’s more than 30 seats in the program. It may take some time, but once people begin declining acceptances there will be movement on the waitlist, so if you’re high on the list, you’ll be one of the first to get the acceptance. I’d say the earliest you’d hear back is a week or so after the deposit deadline. But it may be sooner if those accepted decide to decline the offer before the due date

No problem! Like I said, your chances are rather high, so try to relax (I know it’s tough lol) and enjoy the next few months! Good luck!

I would say 50-50% chance for any school since you still cannot predict whether or not other people change their mind about that school. But considering the "bonus" lol, I would say your chances are higher. Maybe 60% at least.
