A rod is pivoted about it's center. A 5N force is applied 4m from the pivot and another 5N force is applied 2m from the pivot. Find the magnitude of the total torque.

The angle for both is 30 degrees.

Using T+rFsin theta

So I'm using Tnet= T1 +T2

So I did 5*4sin30+5*2sin30

The answer is 15N, but with how I'm calculating it, I'm not getting anywhere near that answer.

Can someone help?

This is not an MCAT question, it's actually my homework, but I figured it couldn't hurt posting here just to give yall some practice lol 😉

Thanks.

ahhhhh i'm such a dummy. my calculator was in radians.. im like i knowww i'm doing this right. thank you for responding. something just told me to do sin(30) by itself just to check and it said -0.988 i was like oookay that's my problem! i appreciate you!
