If anyone has any information in regards to that and would it be any hassel or problem for a person with expunged record meaning went to jail and their records are expunge they explain their mistake or the situation. Would it be problem for getting into medical school or later on in getting licensed? It wasn't something major just minor mistake made like charged with misdemeanor charged, but all case was dropped and records are been destroyed. Also since the new new MCAT is administered in April, will we still be able to take the old MCAT up until the new one starts?

The last date to take the current MCAT is January 23. The new MCAT begins in April. There are no dates in Feb/March.

Medical schools mostly ask about convictions. If you served jail time, then you were probably convicted and would have to disclose. You should ask your lawyer if expungement means that the conviction never happened. The medical schools will ask "Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony?" Some schools will say "do not disclose juvenile offenses that have been expunged."

You basically have to just try and if you have any doubts about how to best answer the question, get a $150 consultation with a good local defense attorney.

A lot of it will depend on how long it's been and what the offense was. I was accepted with several misdemeanors (no jail time though and they were over 10 years old) and no expungements. Be ready to talk about it in the interview. It's also helpful to research the licensing laws for the states the schools are in, where the rotation sites are, and where you might consider residency, it looks good on your part when you can tell them that you can be licensed in those states.

You'll be fine.

If the charges were dropped then you were never convicted and don't need to disclose anything...expunged means they cleared it from your records, so again you don't need to disclose anything. You should consult an attorney for peace of mind though because if anything does come up that you didnt disclose you are probably going to have your acceptance rescinded or get thrown out of school. The major stuff which is going to affect you getting licensed is drug related offenses, i.e. the DEA isn't going to trust a pill trafficker with a prescription pad.

An arrest doesn't go away in some states, e.g. Texas requires license applicants to submit records and a statement for any arrest "regardless of outcome."

I remember someone on the boards saying that you can contact Texas licensing board and they evaluate if you can get license even before you get into med school? I may be wrong. Maybe start inquiring there?
