The following narrative and accompanying tables provide selected data covering student enrollment, curriculum structure, student assessment, and medical school administration from doctor of medicine (MD)–granting medical schools during the 2025-2026 academic year. The data are derived from the 2025-2026 Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) Annual Medical School Questionnaire-Part II, which was sent in March 2026 to the deans of the 160 LCME-accredited schools with students enrolled in at least 1 year of the curriculum during the 2025-2026 academic year. Of the 160 LCME-accredited schools, responses were received from 158 (response rate of 99%).
Data from the 2025-2026 LCME questionnaire were primarily compared with data from the 2005-2006 questionnaire but also were compared with other survey years. The 2005-2006 and the 2015-2016 questionnaires had response rates of 100%. For all survey years, attempts were made to verify the data and obtain missing information.
