How many med students read/subscribe to this publication? Is it wise to get it? I'm thinking of having someone subscribe to it for me...just read up on to know what's up.

Do I get a student discount on account of my school?

eck...I hate weekly magazines...who has time to read all that stuff?

Don't pay for it - you get it free for joining the AMA next year, and I am willing to bet that after the thrill of getting it wears off (week 2) you will never read it again, other than browsing it briefly to see if there is anything that interests you.

[again, I STRONGLY advise you not get it - trust me...]

LOL...I agree I will lose the thrill in a few weeks...thanks for the headz up.

Yeah, I get it for free with my AMA membership and at first it was so exciting getting my little jama's in the mail. Now, I flip to the contents and see if anything is interesting--usually nothing is. They then get tossed onto a shelf.

Yeah, what's up with that?

Most of their research paper abstracts are full of space-filling, pompous crap. "Rapid medical attention to acute condition leads to increased survival." Yeah, no sh1t

I get it. It's only halfway thru first yr, and already I got a huge stack sitting in my shelf. 🙄 I can't imagine how huge the stack is going to be by the end of the next 3 yrs.

Yeah, I'm halfway through 2nd yr, the stack of JAMAs was getting overwhelming, so I introduced half of them to my friendly dumpster.
Oh..did I also mention I am also receiving the AAFP journal for free....at least that one is only once a month.

😛 Mossjoh

What I find most interesting about those magazines is the artwork on the covers.
