What did everyone think that took it. Personally, I thought that it sucked, as we all usually do. Specifically, one book sucked really bad. Anyway, I did not expect THAT much Cardio.

For those who want to know the emphasis on this years exam (in order):

1. OB/GYN: bleeding, peripartum management
2. Cardio: EKG EKG EKG, murmurs
3. ID-absolutely everything
4. OMM: Cranial, Sacrum, Ribs, Sym/parasym
5. Ethics/Law
6. Neuro: Head bleeds

That was about 70% of the exam. Less Peds and general IM than I thought there would be.

Would like to hear everyones thoughts.

Cheers.

finished with STEP2 :👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

Congrats on being done with step II! :hardy: 👍

COMLEX-II sucked in August as well. I don't know what the COMLEX writers are smoking when they write the exams.

But it's done!!!! I'm sure you did fine.

Wheww!

I agree what a horrible test. Here are my complaints.

1. Do they really have to repeat the same questions worded a little differently over and over again???

2. Why did every other question begin with "A 24 year old G1 P0 female 32 weeks pregnant arrives with . . . . . . BLAh BLAh BLAh"???

3. What insane person thought we needed a test 2 days long and over 750 questions in length???

Several friends have told me that the January test blew hard. I think you may be the last ones for the step 2 two day dance, it may be going to the computerized one day thing for next year. Did you think it was harder or easier than 1, and did you study more, less or the same amount?

Walking out of step2, I tought:

What the blazes was that?? Book 2 was unbelievably 'AARD. Oh yea and why did we get TWO glossies?

I thought the spread looked something like OB/Gyn > Peds > Neuro/psych > OMM > Endocrine > Cardio > Renal/Metabolic Derangments > GI > ER/ACLS/Trauma > ID(incl TB, AIDS) > Rheumatic/Autoimmune Dz ..... etc

They managed to sneak in a lot of urology into the OB sections. A lot of chronic UTI management in pregnant women.

Patient presentation and physical exam findings were tested to death in ob, gyn, psych.

OMM was heavy on facilitation, ribs, cranial. Not nearly as many chapmans ad i had expected.

Typical question set:

Patient is a 29yo male presenting for his regular annual physical. The most appropriate diagnosis is:

A. Hypertension
B. AIDS
C. Narcotic withdrawal
D. Depression
E. Adjustment disorder with depressed mood

Physical exam exhibits a well developed male. He exhibits bibasilar crackles. The exam is otherwise unremarkable. Which of the following would have prevented this condition?

A. Echocardiography
B. Yearly CD4 count
C. CAGE questionnaire
D. MMPI questionnaire
E. Aggressive treatment with an ACEI and BB

What other findings would you expect to with this patient.

A. Terry's nails
B. Lower extremity edema
C. Wrist drop
D. Psychomotor ******ation
E. Hypersexual behavior

It was a horrible exam. Not sure exactly what it was testing, but it was a poorly written exam.

I actually thought there was a lot of peds. I would say Ob/Gyn 1st, peds 2nd for general issues. Oh, except for the obese woman who just ate a fatty meal and has epigastric pain. That question was repeated about 30 times.

We only got one picture book in AZ. I know the folks in Michigan got 2. So I assume those are those sneaky little practice questions they are "testing" for future testers...

I'm still laughing at adismo...thats exactly what it was like...I just kept thinking "where is the rest of the info?" I AM glad that there was only one book in AZ...I would have gotten sick of EKG and brains that I screwed up...there were a couple of head CT's that I thought I had the answer and then read the next 2 questions with it and didn't think I saw an answer so I changed the first question so I had all three answers...then come to THINK after the test that the correct answers WERE there, I just had to extrapolate a little...total BUNK!!! So I got 3 wrong for my effort. NICE

Could you believe how many questions addressed Dexa scans, osteoporosis risk factors, etc....I think it was a close second behind vaginal bleeding.

ok, this is just killing me....that question about what should the dad do with the tooth he found on the ice rink? i originally put salt water, then changed it to ice water. i looked it up....two correct answers according to one of my sources were salt water or milk. uuughhh.

Test was super hard, anyone else care to chime in on what they felt. Did anybody think it was OK, but not too too hard.

I thought it was so much easier than Step 1. In fact, I would call it pretty basic. My score will be the real testament, though.

I put throw it away...it was between that and milk...I just couldn't get over the fact that it said something like "after she went to the hospital dad was looking on the ice and found the tooth" but how freaking long afterward? And why wasn't dad with her for crap sake...🙂 I REALLY over annalyzed that question...my niece actually fell and lost a tooth (baby tooth) and the dentist said to wash it off and shove it back in...SO I had NO clue on this quesiton..."if there really was such a question on a test..........."

COMLEX II was just such a poorly wirtten test. First off, there are many many things that are "bread and butter" general medicine that EVERY medical student, DO or MD just has to know, and this type of material did not make it onto the test, to me, that is almost shocking.

Second, I know for a fact the goal of the writers of the USMLE is to put material on the test that is not controversial, or material that is arguable, every fact must be concrete!! That is not the case for COMLEX!!

But in the long run, as bad as a test it is, somehow, some way, we all get through it. My gripe is that I wish MD's knew this, it is very difficult to explain to an allopathic program director how bad this test is without making it sound like you're just a whiner.
