I just wanted to warn some of you who are planning on taking the Jan MCAT for Aug 2007 admittance...most schools are not accepting scores from this date! I have heard a lot of talk around here concerning this. Miami is just one example...

Changes for 2007- Miami
"Applicants for the 2007 entering class must take the MCAT exam no later than the August, 2006, test date. MCAT scores from the January, 2007, test dates will not be considered."

what about other schools? Do some still accept the January 2007 for august entering class? If so, do you have an example. Thanks

this isn't meant to offend anyone, but that seems kind of obvious. the january mcat dates are after the deadline for most secondaries i have seen. i would think a lot of the slots would be filled by the time the scores are released even if that is in february or something. i don't know about people who already took it once, say in april, and are then on WLs and take the jan 07 to try to improve their chances of getting off. taking it for the first time in Jan 07 in hopes of being admitted Aug 07 is out of the question in my opinion. that test though would be fine for people planning on attending med school in Aug 08.

Right, most secondaries are due in the fall of '06 for the class of '07. Some are due in January or February, but not very many. The latest testing date for the entering class of 2007 is the August 2006 one. But, yeah, for the class of 2008, January 2007 MCAT is just fine. Good luck! :luck:

You should go on the website for the medical school you are interested in and look.

Spospo- it doesn't take two months to get the scores for CBTing...this is why some people are assuming that some schools will take them. Some schools have a later deadline...like Jan or Feb, but I believe the majority are DO. This was for the 06 entering class:DO deadlines

sorry, didn't know DOs had later deadlines. Being the premed that I am I would just be worried about being later in the cycle than everyone else - MD or DO. Then again, some people don't think the same way, so it is good that you started this thread to give people a heads up

Agreed. Even assuming they cut the time for getting the scores out in half, you wouldn't have your score until early february. Most schools are wrapping up their interview season by then, and it seems like common sense that they wouldn't be eager to consider totally new applications at the time.
