If one was to still wish to get into Osteopathic school for the Fall of 07 - can you submit your apps early and take the January MCAT, and have that MCAT still count towards this year's admissions? I know a lot of deadlines are February so why not submit your apps and send your MCAT scores when you get them.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated...

My gut feeling is "probably not," but seeing as this is a new situation (with several MCATs starting in January) you might get lucky. If you're planning on doing this, before you submit your primary application make sure you call the schools you're interested in and see if they'll accept a January 07 MCAT. I've seen many schools that say you can take it no later than August the year before you start, but there's always a chance.

Good luck!

Thanks Kubed - I'm going to send out emails seeing if I can indeed do so...

Appreciate the response

i read on a specific school's site that they would accept the january mcat scores for 07 admissions... sorry but i forgot which school it is.. at least we know there's ONE school that would definitely take jan mcat

I know I have read some that say they will consider the January MCAT score as long as you have taken it before in an earlier session (within the last 3 years of course). I remember specifically looking for that since I will be retaking in January. I did take it in April this year, but was sick and did poorly. I was paid up to take it in August but had pneumonia and couldn't take it. So, I will be there in January doing it all over again.

If the school you want to apply to doesn't specify whether or not it will be acceptable, just send them an email and ask. The DO schools are definately more responsive to email questions than MD schools, from my experience.

Good luck.

When do you get back your August MCAT scores?
