Any law students (current or former) with thoughts about this? If I want to be an administrator--NOT a lawyer--will I have trouble explaining the usefulness of the JD?
Why put yourself through law school then? You're better off getting an MHA or an MBA in health sector management if you want to go into administration.
The JD is a huge time and money commitment if you don't plan on practicing law or representing a health care organization. In addition, you will run the risk of appearing overqualified for most admin jobs -- employers will worry that you will jump ship to a law firm/law job if given the opportunity.
