Jefferson, Fox Chase

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Jefferson's chair is Adam Dicker. Seems like a nice guy. Haven't talked to him a lot yet.

Fox Chase's chair is Eric Horwitz. Also seems like a pretty good guy.

I never did away rotations at either place, so I can't comment on that.

last i heard they both were interim chairs...or are they permanent now?

Yes, they're both interim at this point. Apologies for any confusion. I may have misunderstood the original poster's question. Thought s/he was asking who was running the programs currently.

Searches for permanent chairs remain open at FCCC and TJU (and a bunch of other places as well).

wow--i didnt hear that horowitz is the new chair at fox chase. that is definitely good news for the residents. he seemed like a really cool guy when I interviewed there and the residents all seemed to like him. Not quite the same story with Pollack. Of course, he doesnt have quite the name Pollack had though.

should be interesting to see who/when these chair positions fill. any idea who is the running for these jobs? I would imagine both places are looking at (the same?) big name people similar to curran and pollack.

i think that after conducting a search, both places will hire internal. why? penn is building their proton center and will dominate radiotherapy in phili for at least the next decade. fccc, after having a mass exodus of medonc and surgery folk, is talking about moving their facility to delaware! and jeff has been a stagnant program as of late.

Interesting! Do you know how many med oncologits and surgeons FCCC lost lately?

I doubt Fox Chase will really move to DE - there is a dominant health system there that is already NCI affiliated, and I can't see FCCC telling it's staff who live in Philly or suburbs to relocate 40 miles south. Doesn't make sense.

Both places will likely try to bring in a big name to keep up the pressure against PENN. I doubt Dicker or Horowitz are really felt ready to be chairs of these places.
