im currently a student at Jefferson and I welcome anyone who is planning on attending....

I just need to beg you guys to do yourself a huge favor by NOT living in the orlowitz building.... it is infested with mice and cockroaches.... a pipe bursts in the building once or twice a year flooding several apartments.... and the fire alarms go off all the time.... the management is terrible and unresponsive.... and most people are really not happy there..... they really take advantage of the students who live there and i ask that you pass this on to anyone planning on going to jeff.....

currently they are cutting off the heat in many apts to replace heating units... they are giving tenants space heaters... and giving less than 24 hour notice for this...they cut a huge hole in your walls and do not fix these holes for more than a month... in the middle of the winter....and say that they are allowed to do this in the lease...

the barringer building on the other hand is a little more expensive but a very satisfactory place to live.... just to be fair

let me know if you have any q's

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be interviewing there soon and one of my questions was about student housing. Should I bother mentioning orlowitz ? How are the other buildings besides these two?

good luck with the interview... jeff interviews are known to be relaxed...

anyways... the only other building is the martin building. i dont know much about it except its dorm style with shared bathrooms and really low rents.... ive never actually set foot inside however.

one other note, the barringer and orlowitz buildings are owned and run by philadelphia management...not jefferson. jeff sold these buildings a few years ago so they have no power to help you as a student. i think the admin has tried to help us, but in reality they have no power to do so.... this makes things much more difficult.... yet the admin keeps sending students the housing packets and advertising.... its a bad cycle...

well well... a new development

heat for 1/2 of the orlowitz building is broken

thus, if you want heat you will be relocated to a cheap hotel nearby.

dont live here.

enjoy jefferson. avoid orlowitz.

I haven't heard back from Jeff I interviewed end of Oct but I got into Temple and Drexel What is the best way to find housing? I liked Jeff, but as of right now it will be Temple???? any sugestions

iv03erson, the heads up is appreciated. I may be coming to Jefferson next year and have no idea where I will live, but at least I now know where not to live.

i dont know a ton about temple but it seems like you have 2 choices. if you have a car, manayunk or east falls may be the best option. if no car, then center city is probably your best option... and you can take the train up to temple.... im not sure if students live on campus but my guess is that very few do given the area...

ive used... craigslist, and philadelphia weekly to find places....

Holy ****, thank God for this thread. Very informative. Thank you.

the heat at orlowitz is OUT again in the middle of winter.

so people are going to the holiday inn
