OK, I jogged a half marathon.

GF is an avid runner so I've been running with her for several months...you know....as a connection activity....

So she signs us up for the Mardi Gras Marathon 2009 which was last Sunday.

Never, ever, ever thought I could do 13.1 miles without stopping!

We finished in 2hrs 26 minutes which was just under an 11 minute mile.

Certainly not groundbreaking but an accomplishment nonetheless.👍

Strong work, Jet. I think the most I've ever run in one stretch is about 2 miles.

<----not a runner at all

Congrats man!
You're ready for the next step...

This is how I got dragged into the endurance sport genre. Half, then full, now training for triathlons. I used to be a sprinter...400 meters was my max so 26.2 was just absurd.

good luck.

This is how it starts. Next thing you know, you'll be doing full marathons and maybe even ultras. 😉

I love halfs. They're the perfect length: long enough that you know you've gotten a workout, but not so long that you're hurting for a full week afterward. I haven't been doing that kind of running since I started med school, but one of these decades I'd like to get back into it....

1 mile would be enough that I know I've gotten a workout, let alone 13.

I always think about running, and that's usually about as far as it goes. I'll jog on a treadmill, but get me outdoors and I feel like I'm gonna die. Maybe one day...

Congrats Jet. Maybe we'll convince you to put down those weights and start hitting the pavement with the rest of us neurotic endurance athletes!😀

congrats, it's addictive...
once you run a 1/2 you can do a full marathon.
once you can do a marathon you can do a 50k.
once you can do a 50k you can do a 50 miler.
once you can do a 50 miler you can do a 100k.
once you can do a 100k you can do a 100 miler.

Congrats, Jet! I also completed my first half last fall (November). Never thought that I would run 13.1 miles. You up for a full? I haven't decided on that yet. That is a long, long distance!

I also like the half, I feel it is the perfect distance. Working to see if I can get my ***** in gear for another one here pretty soon.

Congrats again! 😎

Don't drink this koolaide Jet! That's like cheating on the squat rack!😱

Strong work!

If you want to stay in training for future half-marathons, try the entire Lakeshore Drive levee from West End marina to the Seabrook Bridge at the Industrial Canal and back. It's 6.1 miles each way. The scenery will make you forget about the pain. Plus you're running on grass the entire time.

That pace is very respectable Jet. Congrats!
