i had to use the other NY airport and i can't remember name.

but what i did was:

from airport take some "airport shuttle" to grand central

then take train to valhalla, i can't remember much about that

then take cab to campus.($11)

That's a hell of a long ride to get from NYMC to JFK. I would say it takes about 2-3 hours for this slow journey. For convenience's sake, I recommend flying into White Plains/Westchester County Airport (HPN). It's only a 15 minute drive from NYMC. Plane tickets into HPN are more expensive, but I think it's worth the convenience.

However, if you're set on going to JFK, here's the cheapest way.
1. Take the NYC Subway from JFK to Grand Central Station.
2. Transfer to Metro North MTA (Train system). Take the Train from Grand Central Station (NYC) to White Plains.
3. Get a NYMC med student to pick you up at the White Plains Train Station (if you can't get someone to pick you up, then you'll need to get a cab).

I'm from right around westchester medical center (my stepmom works there), and i live in cali. Getting from JFK or LaGuardia to westchester is a bit of a pain in the butt if you don't have parents to schlep you, so flying into white plains airport would be the best solution. Sometimes, it can even be the cheapest option (granted, you will need to connect in minnesota or chicago most likely). White Plains airport is nearby (you could probably arrange for a student to pick you up or take a cab) and it is very very small.

Otherwise, as the previous post said, from JFK you take the new sky train which connects to the NYC subways, and take those to grand central. the harlem line gets you to valhalla in ~40minutes 🙂
