This question is out of curiosity and not really related to me. On these forums, it seems like people spread gloom and doom about the job outlook of every specialty. Things like, "you need to complete 1-2 fellowships to maybe get a job in rural Wyoming" (obviously a gross over-exaggeration).
In particular, one of my cousins is a radiology resident (PGY3) at MGH. Very smart and likeable guy, though that can be said about many doctors. Although I don't have many specifics, coming from a top program (and assuming he comes off as smart/likeable), I was curious about his chances of getting a desirable job without having to do a fellowship. I'm guessing varies on a case by case basis depending on the relationships you made with attendings.
However, in general, how does the job outlook from a top program compare to the average "gloom and doom" heard about in general? Thanks!
