I am very interested in odontology and research.
does anyone have information on how to do this after you get you dds?
how is the job demand?
how is the salary?

i heard most new graduates have a hard time finding jobs...is this true?
would odontology or research have more job security?

thanks

There are some people from my school who have done forensics externships with an outfit up in Canada that specializes in dental forensics. Pretty cool if you're into the CSI thing, but for me it would just be too tedious to do full time. One of the girls actually presented a lecture on her experience. They took full mouth series on decapitated heads, made casts to fit bitemarks found on victims/bodies... all kinds of creepy stuff that I have no interest in being a part of.

I am doing forensics as my undergrad (A.A.S. FORENSIC SCIENCE, B.A. CRIMONOLOGY). my prof and I talked about this and the basic conclusion we came to was research is dependant on grants and the forensic application is based on crime rate and in general not enough work to keep a doctor busy full time so a combination of the two would most likely be best.
