What clinical jobs to look for?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm applying this cycle and left my clinical job in May to make time for other stuff (surgery, family vacations, applications). In that time, I've still been volunteering and doing some research part-time. I got an offer for a full-time clinical job in August, but that fell through after I found out the practice had a history of doing shady stuff and I didn't want to be a part of that. As of now, I'm mostly unemployed and I'm not sure how long it'll be before I find something. On my application, I didn't say anything about the gap and didn't mention that job that fell through. Will this gap be viewed negatively by admissions committees?
Hmm. Not to pry too much, but why didn’t you stick with your job? Job market for EMTs is wide open right now (though depending on the state you’re living in). I don’t know enough if it will be viewed negatively, unless you indicated that you had a set number of projected hours. Even then, I have read that projected hours aren’t that heavily weighted and it’s viewed as a way to give Adcoms an idea of what you’ll be doing during the application cycle.

Hi all. I'm based in a large midwestern city and am on the market for a full-time clinical job but have been having trouble finding one. I only have scribing experience and a BLS certification. What sort of jobs should I look for?

I have merged your threads about your job situation. As in the initial reply, there is usually demand for EMT's. You could be an MA too.

I've already applied and am in a gap year, so I'm not sure if it would be worth the time to get a certification. What sort of positions could I get without a certification? Or should I just bite the bullet and take an MA class?

Are you in need of the income and benefits and that is why you need a full time job? If you had significant hours at your last one working with patients, you could try to find an entry level clinical research coordinator job.

The first priority I suppose is supporting my application. I had no luck hearing back after applying to a bunch of clinical research jobs. I don't have a biology or chemistry-related major and only have dry-lab experience, which I think has made it harder.

Then take the MA class or scribe again if end up needing to reapply. Non-clinical volunteering in the community is good too while you wait. If you have a strong applicant profile already, you don't need to be in any particular rush to fill your time.

Do you need to support a family? I'm not clear on whether or not a job is necessary at this time. If it's not, then I would go for the volunteering.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
