Jobs while volunteering?

Hey guys. As of right now, I am Pre-Med student and I volunteer as a patient transporter at a hospital. My question is that do I have a better chance to land a paid job as a patient transporter or even any job in my hospital if I volunteer for a while and be consistent? Any tips or advice? Thanks.
