How difficult is it to come across a job working for a school following graduation (be it a lecturer or other full/part-time faculty position) ? How many years of experience do schools usually look in their instructors before bringing them in as well? I've always wanted to be a professor and just wanted to know what the propspects were. Thanks in advance!

I think it depends on needs if it's right after dental school. If it's really a goal of yours, get to know faculty. Express interest in education. I know some people who go a faculty position right out of school part time. The problem is most of my class knows the guy teaching (not in a good way) so we didn't really listen to him.

Just out of curiosity, did you pay around 400k to become a professor?

Some people are saying it's not even worth that much debt to become a dentist, but you went through dental school and don't even want to pursue dentistry? That's pretty bold man.

Not necessarily but I don't see why you can't do both as most professors do.

I'm not entirely sure about your situation, but isn't the normal route to becoming a professor going to graduate school and then getting a PhD?

Also are you currently working as a dentist right now, and do you really dislike it a lot?

Is Shak Muscles a reference to the muscles you built from jumping to so many conclusions?

Not a current dentist, will be a dental student. Many dental school professors are DDS only without second a second degree, not requiring a PhD.

Oh I understand what you mean now. So are you saying you want to both practice dentistry and be a professor as a 2nd job? I have seen some dentists that are also faculty at schools while also practicing.
