Hi,
I have heard that the JH post-bacc program is ridiculously hard to get into, as they only admit 25 students. I have a 3.3 GPA from a top Ivy League school, have a 1440 SAT, did no college science classes, but was a psychology major and worked in a psych research lab for 3 years at school. last year I did more research in psychiatry and worked with patients. The JH application is quite tedious so I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on whether I should bother applying or not with my low GPA? As in, do I have a chance in getting in?

thanks so much!

I don't know #'s - but I doubt 3.3 would be competitive in a ridiculously competitive program - what's the app fee? Probably can't hurt - I'd call and ask them whether or not they think you should apply.

I'm in the program right now. From what I can tell, the admission decisions are made on a huge range of factors, many of which are NOT numbers based. The current class has a wide range of students. I would say people did well as undergraduates, but more importantly are interesting people, have done interesting things, and seem committed to medicine. A lot of it is, I think, based on the interview. My advice would be to call up and ask, and you will probably be told to apply. My experience with the application was that it was worth doing because it made all the other applications I did that much easier.
