I understand how v wave increases in tricuspid regurgitation and atrial septal defect, but why does RHF cause it?

Sorry if it's a stupid question

Fluid backs up from RV so there is an increase in pressure on the RA thus increasing the v wave (filling phase). In other words, more pressure to work against to fill the R side so see an increase in V.

I get it now. I guess I didn't consider that right ventricular failure means not enough output to match the left heart cardiac output, which is still coming through arteries and then veins and then back to the jugular veins + SVC, so increased pressure in jug v. and SVC causes a blast of blood into the right atrium whenever its available for filling. Thanks
