Who all is taking the PCAT in July and would maybe want to join together in this thread and ask for help and keep each other motivated for the test??
I'll be studying starting ~may 13th it's the Monday after my spring finals. I'll be using Dr Collins and MAYBE cracking pcat by PR. But it doesn't matter what materials we use we can still help each other out. Lets kill this test and get accepted into pharmacy school!
LETS GOOOOO!!!

I think if you get those experimental questions right you may get points. For example, say you get 30 out of 48 right and if that 30 includes about 5 experimental questions. I think your score would be 30 points instead of 25. I think you get the best score among the two possible scores. This is just my personal opinion.

I'm not 100% sure that's just my intrepretaion on the scoring and from what I have read previously.

For those of you that have taken PCAT previously, lets say i want to skip question number 3 on PCAT and there are 48 questions on particular section, once i answer number 48 and hit next does question number 3 come up? or i would have to click back all the way to question number 3?

It shows you a screen numbered 1-48 and if you hav any blank you just click on it. It tells you what was unanswered.

I actually attempted to move my test date to September today but there were no seats. I still haven't started studying because I'm taking Anatomy in a 5week time frame. I understand that the information on here will help me with the actual test but that's not enough because there are other sections on the test. I might not have that much time to study except days after the actual test.

I need a little motivation guys.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm in a 7 week course for both microbiology and micro lab (separate classes at my uni). I try to do at least some review every day and a practice test a day at least.

Ive been studying Dr Collins 2013 packet(s) for the last 4 weeks. I just hope it is enough :scared:

How have you been doing on your practice tests for bio with dr Collins? I've been getting 12-18 wrong on mine. It makes me a little nervous...

I think I'm good in bio. I can do all 9 and get a 90%+ raw score. It's the chem ones(13 different ones) that I have to become more consistent. I should also start paying more attention on the verbal. Barely glanced at that. Still a lot to do and under 4 weeks left!

LOL I know how you feel... I need to start practicing time management! :scared:

That might be my problem, I have been doing them within 13-15 minutes easy. Maybe I'm going too fast through them? Haha
I need to do a full length in one sitting this weekend definitely. I've just been doing topics by themselves. Quant is the scariest to me...

That's pretty good time it should give you enough time to go back and check your work..

Just make sure you are not just remembering the questions but actually understanding the concept.

Yeah the questions I didn't know where topics I have never studied before or learned in my classes... I need to read through the Collins review for bio still ha

I bought a dr. collins study guide recently. It has the fall 2012 updates, but in the biology section at the bottom, it says it was copyrighted in 2009 by Obenauf. Did i get scammed or is it supposed to say that?

Mine says the same thing but I bought mine used as a "2012" version too.

Does anyone know how dr Collins reading comprehension relates to actual pcat in difficulty? I scored 43/48 on my first one, I've been focusing more on bio and chem

Hey. Does anyone have the answers to the Dimensional Analysis questions on the Quantitative portion of Dr. Collins? Please let me know so we can compare answers.

What I heard is that Dr Collins reading is way easier than actual PCAT reading..best way that you can practice is to do with official pearson practice test.

Dr. Collins Quant- dimensional analysis portion, I don't have the answers. They seem to be cut off or something. Does any have the answers?

I've heard that as well. I tried the Kaplan one and was overwhelmed by the difficulty. Dr. Collins just seemed to ask basic questions about the content, without requiring any analysis. Does anyone have some good practice for reading?

Hey guys can someone clarify the numbers of pages in the biology section of Dr. Collins study guide? I feel like I'm missing something

After taking one pearson test seems like the 8 experimental questions don't help or hurt us as they aren't factored into the total score. I remember seeing some posts about it here

How are you guys studying for verbal ability?

Idk I'm worried about that section but don't know how much I'll actually put towards learning new words. Majority of the words I have never seen before and don't think I could learn many new words that'll actually be on the test...

yeah worried about that too. scored kinda low on it on the practice test and it seems like there really isn't a way to learn a bunch of new words that'll be likely to show up on the test

Yeah I just look up new words I come across and that's about it. I don't think studying a random list of words will help me much... That's probably not what I should do but I think I'd waste too much time with it if I tried learning new terms

Hey you guys I'm new to the forums here but I've been studying dr collins packet the last month. Got through every section except the biology but starting that tonight. Reading comprehension seemed way too easy, quant was more challenging, and verbal kinda worries me because there's almost always some words I have no clue what they mean haha.

I have been doing nothing more than taking multiple practice test daily, see what I got wrong, and go back and review the concept. The Chem section and math are the most time consuming. I cant believe we are not allowed a periodic table or a simple calculator. Even MCAT and DAT allows it.

Yeah I know when I first started reviewing chem I was thinking oh this won't be too bad with a periodic table... and quant is giving me the most frustration... I stopped midway through s practice test last week

yeah a calculator would save me so much more time on the quant section. no periodic table wont be too bad if they give us the molecular weights of the atoms we need to know, but they expect you to know some of the basic ones such as carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen.

Is anyone using Princeton review and tired the online practice tests? I just did the first one and it seemed really hard especially the chem section. Then in the reading comp section I accidentally pressed suspend and it signed me out so Idk how I did

Help me I'm in full panic mode! Lol there's just too much material ... I'm freaking out... Anyone got a time machine?! Lol

Haha I feel the same way. Where did all that time in June I thought I had go!? But we can do this don't start patching yourself out, YOU GOT THIS!!

I just keep coming up short with time in the quant section even after skipping some questions

What percentile are you guys hoping to get?

I'm aiming for 90%. Just ope dr collins and Princeton is enough. Still need more work on chem section and hope I don't choke on the verbal. We are 2 weeks away so I'm starting to get a little nervous. 😕

Same here. So many distractions are coming up too. I'll be happy with an 80+

holy sxxt, it is coming..less than 2 weeks! I've been working on collins and little on vocab.. still it's very challenging whenever I do practice test.

I envy those people having all day preping for PCAT..as a full time enlisted, time management is very rough.

Good luck on you all! let's do our best..

Today is the first time Ive had an entire 24hour day off in 3 weeks. I have been able to study so much more material than the average work/school weekday and it has had tremendous results. I agree it is challenging studying for this test while maintaining a full schedule but as long as you give it your all, we should all do well!

In Dr Collins I trust.

I already bought the package of DR.Collins 2010 update, but I read some posts in SDN, and they said there are about 27 pages for july 2012 update. Is there anyone willing to sell those update for me only? I really appreaciate that 😕

I can get 46/48 on bio and 47/50 on verbal but just started chem today and got like a 34/50 so I need a lot of work

A bit more than a week to go, and my packet is missing chemistry practice tests. Anyone have a good source to practice these kind of problems?

Where can I do a full pcat practice test that isn't going to cost me my left arm!? Lol tnx

if you don't want to purchase the pearson tests (which are worth the money), kaplan has some free online practice test events if you search their website. but they shorten all the sections, still contain info prior to the 2012 pcat changes, and have no writing section.

HI PEOPLES!! HAS ANY OF YOU TAKEN THE PRACTICE TESTS FROM PEARSON? JUST WONDERING IF THESE TESTS WILL BE REFLECTIVE OF THE ACTUAL ONE. I AM JUST SO NERVOUS, HOPE IT TURNS OUT GOOD!! =/ 😕
