Hey guys. I've been studying for the MCAT since early January. However, because of poor time management, I wasn't very productive during my studies. I've finished all TBR chapters (content) & passages for Berkely Review Chemistry and Physics. I haven't done any passages for Organic and Biology as of yet (plus I still need to review content again because I forgot a lot of stuff... I didn't touch it for 2 months). I'm really stuck in a uncomfortable predicament. As of now I'm scheduled to take the test on June 16th which about 3 weeks away.

I probably won't have time to do many FL's because right now I'm trying to cram Biology and Organic passages in + relearn it all. I've already rescheduled my exam twice and voided once in april. My family is becoming increasingly frustrated and by moving it again, it would upset them more AND I think it would put me at a huge disadvantage (apparently July 16th is considered late). I'm really in need of advice please!! I really need to make a killer mcat score because of my low science gpa (3.0).

is the july date still available near you?

the temptation to delay was voided when I found that everything is filled up for awhile around my area.

Yeah it is. I'm worried it might go though. That's why I need to figure out what to do before it's to late.

July 16th is NOT late. Sure, it's late according to some SDN gunners, but they are only a minority of pre-meds in this country. If you get a good score on that July 16th date, it's going to look way better than a mediocre score you get on the June 16th date.

I'm also signed up to take it July 16th. I called some schools, which said that if I take it that date, they won't review me until October. So for some top schools, it may put you a little behind, but not for the majority.

And my parents were also frustrated with me. I was supposed to take it last August, then pushed it to September, then to March. Few weeks before my March test I wanted to push back but my parents got angry. And the score I got was so awful, I wish that I hadn't take it. So take it from someone in the same situation. Only take it when you are ready. If you take it in June and you're not ready, you won't do as well and you most likely can't apply this cycle.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm still on the fence though. Hoping more people can provide some input.

How did you break it down to your family & parents?

To be honest, I couldn't even tell them the real score because it was so bad. I'm studying at home now and just focusing on the test, rather than doing everything to their expectations. If they try to tell me to do something, I ignore them and do my own thing. It's harsh, but its the only way to survive in my house haha.

I guess you can tell your parents that you're not ready, and that if you still take it in June and don't do well, you have to push back a year. That'll usually straighten them out. HOWEVER, if you aren't ready by July 16th, then there's something going on with you/your schedule, and you should probably take off a year anyway to figure it out and have more time to study.

So is end of july considered late?

For taking the MCAT, its not really that late. You would be complete end of August, assuming you submitted your primaries and secondaries already. I wouldn't take it in August though. Call and check with your top choice schools and make sure a July MCAT wouldn't put you at a disadvantage. Every school has a different way of doing things.
