June 3rd --- what time?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I applied late as well. All that matters is that you're verified by June 23rd and get your secondaries in ASAP

If your application isn't in by 9:35 am June 3rd, you might as well save your money and wait for next year. Med schools will know you're not serious.

Guys, you do not need to submit as soon as it opens. You will be fine as long as your verified be June 28, which is the date the info will be first transferred to medical schools. Early is good, but error free is better!

Your avatar always gets me XD Haikyuu is a really great show~

Is this EST? I applied late last cycle and really want to have this submitted the first minute I can.

I'm pretty sure it's EST. I remember having to set an alarm to wake up early to submit last year and I'm out west. Also, as people have mentioned above, you don't have to submit the first second. Just try to aim to be verified before the primaries are first released to schools. The longer you wait, the longer it takes to get verified, but don't sacrifice the quality of your primary just to meet the June 3 deadline.

Thanks, it's one of my favorite this season. I always chuckle when I see your avatar too. Gintama is one of my favorites. It's a shame that there haven't been any new seasons recently.

How long does it take for the primary to get verified once it is submitted?

9:30 am I believe

Just to clear some stuff up, AMCAS will open for submission at 9:30 AM EST on June 3, 2014. Initial transmission of data to medical schools will begin June 27, 2014.

Verification time varies greatly depending on when one's application is submitted. Submission on the first day will almost certainly result in verification within two weeks (and possibly as quickly as several hours). Submission during August will likely result in a verification time of around 6 weeks.

It will vary depending on when you submit. If you submit late, it can take up to a month + a few days I believe. If you submit early, as in a the first day/week of amcas opening, it can be done as early as a few days.

To the op: It opens 9:30am EST. Take it from someone who set an alarm to be up at that time and submit my application- the actual seconds/minutes won't really matter as long as you aim to have it done that day or maybe even the next. The advantage to doing this is that if you submit early= you are verified early= medical schools get your/process your file early= you will get secondaries early (if the school likes you)= you can start working on them early= be complete early= start being evaluated for interview/admission early.

Keep in mind- most schools will not evaluate your file for potential interview until you have completed your secondary. The EXACT time you submit your primary is hence not a direct deciding factor, but it will define actually when you actually receive the secondary.

Submitting your primary on the first day should be priority number one. There shouldn't be a dilemma between quality vs submitting early. If your primary isn't ready to go day one, start working on it right now. Submitting early is huge and one of the top things you can do to increase your chances.

If you haven't sent transcripts, do it today. If you haven't sorted out your LOR's, do it today.

I do agree, but make sure you don't sacrifice quality. Your best work that is a few days late will always triumph over work that was just satisfactory yet timely.

Do keep in mind that having your LOR's ready or even not having any at all will have no bearing on whether your can submit your AMCAS or not. Some schools won't even evaluate your LOR's until they evaluate your entire primary and want to consider you further, and most professors/universities will not be able to get your LOR's out until Mid-June early July anyway.

Found what I was looking for:

It looks like submitting any time within the first week or so of AMCAS opening will result in verification before June 27th (i.e., there's no need to submit on the first day).

Haikyuu is actually one of my motivations for MCAT studying 😛 one of the good things about sports anime. Hope the anime for Gintama will be back soon~
